The
Misers
Neil
Ivison (Vocals/Guitar) & Adam Barry (Keys/Vocals).
Influenced
by the rawness of early CCR records and the intimate storytelling
of Ian Hunter, they are fast becoming one of the UK’s most talked about
and sought after new artists, building t
he
buzz the old-fashioned way with word-of-mouth endorsements of their
live shows. Tracks
posted on their official website have generated immediate and overwhelmingly
positive feedback. Within weeks, The Misers secured a DOUBLE chart victory,
racing to the top of the Americana AND Country charts on Myspace UK.
They have also topped the Unsigned Chart for 3 consecutive weeks with
the download only single ‘Back In Your Arms’.
Within
a few months, they have been elevated from playing to a few dozen people
in local bars to opening for such acts as Ocean Colour Scene, The Proclaimers
& Proud Mary.
Neil
is blessed with a soulful, passionate voice that evokes ‘Blue’ era Otis
Redding, Rod Stewart in his Faces prime and his modern contemporary
Kelly Jones. In his writing, Neil has the gift of being able to tell
a story in a song, real life characters take on a life of their own,
challenging the listener to seek out more.
The
Misers debut ‘Amplified Life Stories’ was recorded to 1/4” analogue
tape in 10 days at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth. It was produced by
Tom Oliver & Ian Morgan (Proclaimers, Roy Harper, It Bites) and
mixed by Matt Butler (Paul McCartney, John Martyn, Elvis Costello).
Critics
are hailing it a triumph, stating that The Misers “invoke the spirit
of Johnny Cash with the pop sensibilities of The Jayhawks and the raw,
confessional Americana of Ryan Adams”.
“Amplified
Life Stories” is available now from iTunes and all good, online record
stores.
The
band are currently lining up a full UK tour in support of their first
UK single release in the summer.

rock glitterati at the time, Steve Mitchell , drummer from Panda Division,
John Feeney from ‘Black’ and Mike Railton Keyboard player, from ‘Flock
of Seagulls’, ‘Sting’ but to name a few and the songs were produced
by ‘Saxon’s’ producer Pete Hinton. The next major project Karen worked

‘Slade’ and ‘Wizzard’, she had the privilege of Noddy Holder doing her
backing vocals. Her next recording project took her to the Scorpion’s

Birmingham
born Musical Collective - Gurdan Thomas perform very English sounding
alternative eccentric folk with a very modern marinade. Imagine a cross
breed of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Divine Comedy. Their new album 'The
Fat Lady Sings' comes out on Commerciall y

music is the entertainment value of seeing the group swap instruments
during the set which often include Clarinet, Guitar, Ukulele, Flute,
Recorder, Tuba, Trombone, Mandolin, Percussion, Bass, Piano, Charango
and others.
Having
spent most of last year travelling around mainland Europe playing, recording
and touring with other musicians from Bavaria, Istanbul, Romania, Russia,
Vienna and Genoa and working on a Bavarian farm, Gurdan Thomas is concentrating
on promoting the new record through touring and making short silly films.

Blackwell
Concert Band
The
band was formed at the beginning of 1998, when Blackwell Brass Band
dissolved, due to a shortage of brass players. The decision to allow
woodwi nd
into the band was made in that year, and since then the band has gone
from being a small group of players to its current strength of 25 players.
Blackwell concert band play a very wide range of music, catering for
as many musical tastes as possible. It is hoped that this way there
will be something of interest for everyone who plays in the band. We
